One of the workshops in the zone conference is about teaching with the Spirit. While I was preparing for my part, I saw this video on YouTube. I divided the missionaries into two groups. The first group pretends that the only things they knew about the Book of Mormon, are the things in the video. They then share what they have seen. The second group uses the video to remember their personal experiences with the Book of Mormon. Then they share their feelings about reading and studying the Book of Mormon. Each time it has been a powerful experience. Today, some of the missionaries asked me to put the video on the blog because they want to access it after their missions. I know that this video is not new, but it was new for me, and apparently, it is new for the missionaries as well. And, of course, I am happy that my workshop is useful.
Alguno de los talleres en la conferencia de las zonas son acerca de ensenar con el Espíritu. Mientras me estaba preparando para mi taller, vi este video por YouTube. Dividi los misioneros en dos grupos. El primer grupo necesita pretender que ellos saben solamente las cosas en este video acerca del Libro de Mormón y nada mas. Ellos comparten las cosas que ellos han visto. El segundo grupo usa este video para recordar sus experiencias personales de leer el Libro de Mormón. Ellos compartan sus sentimientos acerca de leer y estudiar el Libro de Mormón. Cada vez ha sido una experiencia ponderosa.
Hoy, algunos de los misioneros me pidieron ponerlo en el blog porque ellos quieren verlo otra vez después de sus misiones. Yo se que esta video no es nuevo, pero fue nuevo para mi y aparentemente, para los misioneros también. Por supuesto, estoy feliz de que mi taller es útil.

It poured rain all night long and when the morning came, it continued. I saw two women coming down the street as we were arriving at the church. When they got closer, I realized that it was our two adorable hermanas, appropriately dressed with their rainboots and umbrellas. Llovió toda la noche y cuando la mañana vino, siguió lloviendo. Vi dos mujeres caminando en la calle cuando llegamos a la iglesia. Cuando las mujeres estaban mas cerca yo me di cuenta que ellos fueron nuestros dos misioneras bellas usaron botas para la lluvia y paraguas.

One of the missionaries repeated for me a story that the traveling assistants told them last week. It is the story about geese that travel together and when one of them is tired or not well, two others will fly in a V-formation with it and allow that bird to draft, making it easier to fly. Uno de los misioneros me dijo acerca de un cuento que los asistentes viajantes les dijeron la semana pasada. Este cuento es acerca de gansos que viajan juntos. Cuando uno de ellos no esta bien, dos otros van a volar como una ¨V¨ porque es mas fácil de esta manera.
He then told me that he was sick this week. Two of the companionships in the zone finished their indicators and then went and completed the work that he and his companion had been unable to do because of the illness. It touched my heart. El me dijo que el estaba enfermo esta semana. Dos grupos de compañeros en su zona terminaron sus indicadores y después fueron y terminaron la obra que el y su compañero no pudieron hacer por su enfermidad. Toco mi corazón.
When I was telling my husband and the assistants about it on the way home, they told me that they thought that happened on a pretty regular basis in the mission. No wonder we are the best mission in all the world with missionaries like that! Cuando estaba diciendo este cuento a mi esposo y a los asistentes durante nuestro viaje a casa, ellos me dijeron que ellos piensaron que esta cosa pasa normalmente en la misión. Entonces no hay sorpresa que somos la mejor misión en todo el mundo con misioneros como estos!

when the refuerzos come in

After the new arrivals have spent a couple of weeks in the mission, they all come into the offices one morning. Presidente, the assistants and I all do what I call “rapid fire” interviews. We ask them if they have any concerns and make sure that they are successfully working on the training materials provided by the church. Después de que los refuerzos tienen dos o tres semanas en la misión, ellos vienen a la oficina un día por la mañana. El Presidente, los asistentes y yo hacemos entrevistas muy cortas. Les preguntamos se ellos tienen desafíos grandes y hablamos con ellos acerca de los materiales del programa de entrenadores de la iglesia.

 They always have the option to talk with Presidente, if they prefer and sometimes that happens. Invariably, a companionship or two forgets to come, so we have to check in with them later. Siempre ellos tienen la opción de hablar con el Presidente, si ellos prefieren y algunas veces pasa. Algunas veces un grupo de compañeros olvidan venir, entonces necesitamos chequear con ellos mas tarde.
  
Elder Rook gave a fabulous concert while the interviewees were to-ing and fro-ing. At one point, someone asked him to play, Be Still My Soul. He claimed that he didn’t know it and went to open the hymnbook when he was advised about the fact that it was not in the Spanish hymnbook. He then hummed a little bit of the melody and asked if that was the song. When we acknowledged that it was, he then proceeded to play the most amazing rendition of it that I have ever heard. Elder Rook nos dio un concierto buenísimo durante el momento de las entrevistas. Alguien le pidió que toque, ¨Be Still My Soul.¨ El nos dijo que el no conoce este himno. Cuando el abrió el libro con los himnos alguien le aviso que este himno no esta en el libro de himnos en castellano. Elder Rook tarareo una parte pequeña del himno y nos pregunto si es correcto. Cuando le dijimos que si, el toco este himno de una manera increíble.

Needless to say, it was a very good morning. However, the best part of all was watching them  check in with one another! There is a special bond that is developed in the MTC and from experience I know that they will continue to watch and care for one another over the course of their missions. Bueno, no es necesario decir que fue una buena mañana. Sin embargo, la mejor parte de todo fue mirarlos hablar uno con otro. Hay un lazo especial que esta hecho en el CCM y desde mi experiencia, yo se que ellos van a mirar y cuidarse unos a otros durante su tiempo en la misión.

As we were walking through the building towards the chapel this morning, we could hear the sound of water filling the baptismal font. Presidente looked at me with a twinkle in his eye and said, “I love that sound!” Mientras caminamos a dentro del edificio hasta la capilla podíamos escuchar el sonido del agua llenando la pileta bautismal. El Presidente me miro y con brillo en sus ojos me dijo, ¨Me encanta este sonido.¨
I’ll tell you what we also love. We love walking into the chapel half an hour before the meeting is ready to start and seeing our missionaries already there. They are so pleased to introduce us to their recently found investigators, and we are so pleased to meet them. Joy is in the air. Voy a decirles algo mas que nos encanta. Nos encanta caminar a dentro de la capilla media hora antes y mirar nuestros misioneros ya allí. Ellos están muy felices de introducirnos a sus investigadores nuevos y estamos muy felices de conocerlos. El gozo esta en el aire.
Later, just minutes before the meeting is about to begin, we see other missionaries walk in and look hopefully among the congregation. They had gone to the home of their investigators to walk with them to church this morning. Not finding them there, they could only hope that they had come on their own. It is heartbreaking to see that disappointment. Mas tarde, solamente pocos minutos antes de que la reunión empiece vemos a otros misioneros. Ellos vienen a la capilla y empiezan a buscar el aula con esperanza. Antes, ellos fueron a la casa de sus investigadores para caminar con ellos a la iglesia esta mañana, pero ellos no estaban allí. Ellos podían tener la esperanza que ellos habían ido a la iglesia solos. Me rompió el corazón ver sus decepciones.
Conference Sundays are my opportunity to catch a glimpse of the work that we teach and train about during the week. Neither through the pictures that Brianna took for me today, nor through my words can I portray the love and care the missionaries exhibit. I am grateful to be able to sit on the stand and see their faces. Los domingos de conferencias son mi oportunidad de ver una pequeña parte de la obra que nosotros estamos enseñando y entrenando durante la semana. Ni por medio de las fotos de Brianna ni por medio de mis palabras tampoco puedo mostrar el amor y atención que los misioneros tienen. Estoy agradecida de sentarme en frente de todo y ver sus caras.

The first three rows on the right side of the chapel are reserved for investigators. It was wonderful that we had many more in attendance today than could fit into that space. Las primeras tres filas a la derecha están reservadas para los investigadores. Fue maravilloso que tuvimos muchos investigadores, demasiados para este espacio.

The assistants are teaching the workshops with practices in the morning. The missionaries imagine that they are one of their investigators or members and anticipate the concepts they may need to teach.
Actually, they are pretty good actors!Los asistentes están enseñando los talleres con practicas por la mañana. Los misioneros imaginan que ellos son uno de sus investigadores o miembros y anticipan los conceptos que ellos necesitan enseñar. En realidad ellos son buenos actores.

Well, these two below aren’t acting. Presidente and Secretary to the Presidente, Elder Riutor, are taking care of business after the conference.Bueno, ellos abajo no están actuando. El Presidente y el secretario del Presidente se están ocupando de cosas importantes después de la conferencia.

I followed the missionaries outside to take pictures as they were leaving this evening because the light was great and they were all so fun to watch with their minds, hearts
and arms
nearly full.
Seguí a los misioneros afuera para sacar fotos porque la luz fue buenísima. Era muy divertido verlos con sus mentes, corazones y brazos casi llenos.

Often after zone conference the missionaries do companion exchanges and they learn from another missionary in the zone for a day or a day and a half. Algunas veces después de una conferencia, los misioneros hacen intercambios. Ellos aprenden por medio de otro misionero en su zona por un día o tal vez un día y medio.

In any case, they head back to the pensions to leave their things before going out to their various appointments for the evening. En cualquier escenario, ellos van a sus pensiones para dejar sus cosas antes de salir a sus distintas citas esta noche.

The zone conference started at 9 this morning and finished at 6 this evening. It is a long day, and we try to pack as much as possible into it. This round of zone conferences we are training on teaching with the Spirit and working with members. La conferencia empezó a las nueve esta mañana y termino a las seis esta noche. Es un día largo y tratamos de hacer todo lo que es posible. En este momento con las conferencias de las zonas estamos entrenando acerca de ensenar con el Espíritu y trabajar con los miembros de la iglesia.

 
And in the middle of everything, Presidente and I ran to the airport to pick up our missionary that got sent to Tucson because his visa had not yet arrived. Today, he got to spend a few minutes with his MTC companion before he and his trainer went off to the regular missionary activities. We will see him again tomorrow, however, because his zone is coming in for the conference then. Y en el medio de todo, el Presidente y yo fuimos al aeropuerto a recibirá un misionero que estaba en Tucson antes, porque el no recibió su visa. Hoy el paso algunos minutos con su compañero de CCM antes de que el y su entrenador salieran a las actividades normales de los misioneros. Vamos a verle otra vez mañana porque su zona va a venir a la conferencia entonces.
