last week

Last week we went to the mission president’s seminar in Bariloche. There were beautiful views everywhere we looked.
 
We have just started into spring in Buenos Aires, but it was still super cold and windy in Bariloche. We had a couple of hours the second day to see a little bit of the area. You can just barely see a white peak of the Andes in the background. We walked a little bit and also drove through the national forest there. The bamboo trees had recently gone to seed, which apparently doesn’t happen very often and it was really pretty. Two years ago, we had trouble getting to Argentina because a volcano was erupting in Chile. The ash from that has caused a turquoise jet stream that makes the water especially pretty.
There were 26 mission presidents and their wives attending the conference from Argentina, Uruguay, Paraguay and Chile. Of course, the area presidency was there with their wives. We also had the two mission presidents and wives that watch over the CCMs in Argentina and Chile. One of the two area doctors was there and a handful of other support people. We especially enjoy reuniting with the group we started with in 2011. It is easy to understand why the missionaries always want to check in with their MTC group when they come to transfer meetings.

There was one time period where the presidents separated into a different class than the wives and we received training specific to our different roles. Obviously, we spent most of our time in workshops directed by the area presidency. However, Presidente was among four mission presidents that gave additional training. He was asked to teach about how we have so successfully used Key Indicators our mission.
Although the seminar didn’t finish until Thursday, we left late Wednesday night because our missionaries had already been delayed a couple of days coming into the country. When we arrived at the airport at 11:00pm to fly back to BA, we were told that our flight had been canceled. They had, however, booked us on a  short flight to the city of Neuquen and from there we caught another flight to Buenos Aires arriving around 3:30 in the morning. We stayed at a hotel near the airport and a few hours later we were back at the airport greeting our missionaries.
I have often felt sustained as we serve. However, I don’t think I have ever felt more sustained physically than I did this past week as we tracked through days that were full to overflowing. I feel the power of the prayers that are offered daily in our behalf throughout the temples and homes of the members of the church. I am truly grateful for each and every prayer and the privilege to be the recipient of those blessings.

La semana pasada fuimos a la conferencia de los presidentes de misiones en Bariloche. Había vistas hermosas por todos lados. Justo empezamos con la primavera en Buenos Aires, pero todavía fue súper frío y ventoso en Bariloche. Tuvimos un par de horas el segundo día para ver un poquito del area. Puede casi ver un pico de los Andes en el fondo. Caminamos un poquito y anduvimos en el bosque nacional allá.

Los arboles de bambú recién hicieron sus semillas, lo cual no pasa mucho y fue muy hermoso. Hace dos anos, tuvimos problemas llegando a Argentina porque un volcán estaba teniendo una erupción en Chile. La ceniza de aquel evento ha hecho un camino en el agua de turquesa que es muy impresionante.

Había 26 presidentes y sus esposas assistiendo la conferencia de Argentina, Uruguay, Paraguay y Chile. Por supuesto, la presidencia del area estaba allá con sus esposas. Tambien tuvimos los dos presidentes y sus esposas que trabajan en los CCMs en Argentina y Chile. Uno de los doctores del area estaba allá y algunos otros para ayudarnos. Siempre estamos felices de reunirnos con el grupo que empezaron con nosotros en 2011. Es fácil entender porque los misioneros siempre quieren charlar con su grupo del CCM cuando vinieron a las reuniones del traslado.

Fue un momento cuando los presidente fueron a otra clase y las esposas recibieron entrenamiento específico para nuestros roles. Obvio, pasamos la mayoría de nuestro tiempo en talleres dirigidos por el presidente del area.

Sin embargo, el Presidente fue entre cuatro presidentes del misiones que dieron entrenamiento adicional. Le pidieron que enseñe acerca de como usamos los indicadores claves con éxito en nuestra misión.

Aunque la conferencia no termino hasta jueves, salimos muy tarde por la noche el miércoles porque nuestros misioneros ya han estado esperando algunos dias para volar al país. Cuando llegamos al aeropuerto a las 11 para regresar a Buenos Aires, ellos nos dijeron que nuestro vuelo fue cancelado. Ya ellos hicieron por otro vuelo a Neuquén y desde allá tuvimos otro vuelo a Buenos Aires llegando mas o menos a las 3.30 de la mañana. Nos quedamos en un hotel muy cerca del aeropuerto y algunas horas después regresamos al aeropuerto para saludar a nuestros misioneros.

Muchas veces me he sentido sostenida en nuestro servicio. Sin embargo, pienso que nunca sentí mas sostenida físicamente que la semana pasada mientras trabajaba en dias muy ocupados. Siento el poder del las oraciones que están hechas diariamente para nosotros en los templos y las casas del los miembros de la iglesia. Estoy muy agradecida por cada una de ellas, por el privilegio de ser la beneficiaria de ellas.
