called by inspiration

We normally receive notice of missionaries called to serve in our mission, many months in advance of their arrival. For example, right now we are receiving notices about missionaries coming in December. So it was a long time ago, maybe even a year ago, that we received notice that we would be receiving an hermana from Quilmes, Argentina. I really thought that it was an error. Quilmes is a city in the province of Buenos Aires. In fact, it is only 11 miles south of the city center!
It was not an error. She has been with us now for four transfers or about six months.
When we had our meeting with Elder Cook, two missionaries from the South Mission told us that they were teaching her dad. She could not believe it! She told us that her conversion was a trial of faith. She wanted to be an eternal family, but she didn’t believe that her dad would ever join the church and therefore, they could never be an eternal family. That was 8 years ago.


Last week, the office elders called and asked her and her companion to come in for an interview on Saturday. However, when they got to the offices, we put them in our car and drove to Quilmes…where she witnessed the baptism of her dad.

I love witnessing miracles.

Normalmente recibimos noticias acerca de los misioneros llamados a servir en nuestra misión muchos meses antes de su llegada. Por ejemplo, ahora estamos recibiendo noticias acerca de ellos que van a llegar en Diciembre. Entonces fue hace un tiempo, tal vez un ano, cuando recibimos la noticia que una hermana de Quilmes va a llegar. En realidad pensé que había un error. Quilmes es una ciudad en la provincia de Buenos Aires. De hecho esta a 15 km del centro.

No fue un error. Ya ella ha estado sirviendo 4 traslados, mas o menos, seis meses.

Cuando tuvimos nuestra reunión con el Elder Cook dos misioneros de la misión sur nos contaron que ellos estuvieron enseñando a su padre. Ella no pudo creerlo. Ella nos contó que su conversión fue un desafío de su fe. Ella quería ser una familia eterna pero pensó que so padre nunca jamas iba a reunirse con la iglesia entonces no iba a poder ser una familia eterna tampoco. Fue mas de 8 anos atrás. La semana pasada los elderes de la oficina llamaron a la hermana y a su compañera para que vengan a la oficina y tengan una entrevista el sábado. Sin embargo, cuando llegaron a la oficina las llevaron en nuestro auto a Quilmes donde ella presencio el bautismo de su padre.
