new shoes

Of course, all of Argentina is talking about the new Pope. A lady that I was talking to today told me that this is a man that has served the people. She said that when the Catholic kids turn 13, there is a special ceremony to receive the gift of the Holy Ghost.  (Although I have read elsewhere that it happens at 8 years of age.) The new Pope, before he was the Pope, went around to the local schools, and there are thousands of residents that participated in the ceremony with him, including the woman that I was chatting with today.
For quite a long time, the new Pope has not conducted mass at the National Cathedral. I think that may change now.

 




I am personally impressed that he is not following in the footsteps of his predecessor, wearing designer red shoes. Actually, just before he left Buenos Aires to attend the conclave, his friends insisted on buying him a new pair of shoes, because the ones he wore were so shabby.
I understand that he is a man that wants to coordinate efforts with others for the good of all mankind. Truly, now is the time for all good people to band together to oppose the forces of evil that are afflicting our society. Pope Francis is known for supporting traditional families and caring for those in need.  Our church has often worked together with the Catholic church on humanitarian programs, and I can only imagine that will continue.

The official statement from the church reads:
“On behalf of the leadership and members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, we extend our warmest wishes to His Holiness Pope Francis and pray he will feel the peace of the Lord as he serves as pontiff of the Catholic Church.”


Por supuesto, todos de Argentina están hablando acerca del Papa. Una mujer que estaba hablando conmigo hoy me dijo que este hombre ha servido a la gente. Ella me dijo que cuando los chicos católicos tiene su cumple año de 13 hay un ceremonia especial para recibir el don del espirito santo. Aunque he leído en otros lugares que pasa cuando ellos tiene ocho anos. El Papa nuevo antes de ser Papa fue a las escuelas locales y hay miles de personas que participaron con el incluyendo a ella.
Por mucho tiempo el Papa no ha dirigido en la catedral nacional. Creo que va a cambiar ahora.
Es muy impresionante para mi que el no esta siguiendo en los pasos del Papa anterior, llevando zapatos rojos de personas famosas. En realidad justo antes de salir Buenos Aires para asistir al conclave, sus amigos insistieron en comprar zapatos nuevos porque los de el eran muy viejos.
Entiendo que el es un hombre que quiere coordinar esfuerzos con otros para beneficio de toda humanidad. En serio, ahora es el momento para que la gente buena se junten para luchar los esfuerzos de maldad que están en el mundo. El Papa Francisco es conocido por apoyar las familias tradicionales y a ellos que tienen necesidades. Nuestra iglesia muchas veces ha trabajado con la iglesia católico en programas humanitarios y puedo imaginar que va a continuar.
