The previous mission president of the Buenos Aires West Mission, President Benton, told Sonja that he hoped to have the opportunity to baptize her. It wasn’t possible. He has been gone for nearly a year now. However recently, Sonja asked Presidente to baptize her. She first encountered the missionaries three years ago. Her live-in boyfriend was an inactive member of the church. She was taught by Elder Thompson and Elder Davila and began working to obtain a divorce from her previous marriage. The whole family has been active in the church since then. It is very difficult and expensive to obtain a divorce in Argentina. Her long wait is over. Her papers finally came through and she was married and baptized on Friday.

El presidente antes de mi esposo, Presidente Benton le dijo a Sonja que el espero tener la oportunidad de bautisarla. No fue posible. El se fue hace 10 meses ahora. Sin embargo, recién, Soja le pidió al Presidente que la bautise. Ella conoció a los misioneros hace 3 anos. Su novio en casa era un miembro inactivo de la iglesia. Fue ensenada por Elder Thompson y Elder Davila y empezó trabajando para obtener un divorcio de su primer casamiento. Hasta aquel tiempo toda la famila ha sido actriva en la iglesia. Es tan difícil y muy caro recibir un divorcio en Argentina. Su espera termino. Por fin ella recibió sus papeles y ella se caso y se bautiso el viernes.

Elder Berglund contacted this family in the streets. They gave him their address, and a week later, he and his companion went to visit them. Shortly thereafter, Elder Berglund returned home and his companion went to serve elsewhere in the mission. Before he left, however, he told the missionaries new to the area that they should definitely teach this family.
They went by numerous times, only to be rejected. I asked why they kept going back when they wouldn’t let them in and they responded that the rejection was soft and the recommendation was strong. Eventually, they were able to give a Book of Mormon to the wife. She laid it on the table, and her husband picked it up and read and read and read and read. He kept on reading until he had finished reading the Book of Mormon. The next time the missionaries came back, he invited them in and had dozens of questions. They gave him more to read and study and taught him more about prayer. That was two months ago, and Saturday they were baptized. In the next couple of weeks, he will receive the Priesthood, and then he will baptize their other two children that are of age.

Elder Berglund contacto esta familia en la calle. Le dio su dirección y después de mas o menos una semana, el y su compañero fueron a visitarlos. Muy pronto después, Elder Berglund volvió a su casa y su compañero salió a otro lugar en la mision. Antes de su viaje, sin embargo, el les dijo a los misioneros nuevos que ellos necesitan ensenar a esta familia.

Ellos pasaron muchas veces pero el padre los rechazo. Cuando yo les pregunte porque ellos volvieron numerosas veces despue de un rechazo los misioneros me dijeron que los rechazos no eran tan fuertes y la recomendación fue tan fuerte. Finalamente ellos tuvieron la oportunidad de dar un libro de  mormón a su esposa. Ella lo puso en la mesa y su esposo tuvo el deseo de revisarlo. El leyó y leyó y leyó. El continuaba leyendo hasta que el termino el libro. La próxima vez cuando los misioneros volvieron les invito a dentro y tuvieron un montón de preguntas. Ellos le dieron mas para leer y estudiar y enseñaron mas acerca de la oración. Fue hace 2 meses y el Sabado ellos fueron bautisados. En las próximas semanas el va a recibir el sacerdocio y despue el va a bautisar a sus ninos.

These two friends have been hanging out together for a long time. When Juan went to EFY this year, he wrote a reference for his friend. When the sister missionaries contacted him with the reference his friend had written, he started coming to church and taking the missionary lessons. His dad was fine with it, saying that it was his life, but his mom did not want him to pursue it. However, he persisted. Eventually, she saw many positive changes in his life and began to support his desires. He was so happy that they all came to witness his special event Sunday evening.

Estos dos chicos han sido amigos hace anos. Cuando Juan fue a EFY este ano, el escribió una referencia para su amigo. Cuando las misioneras le contactoron con la referencia de su amigo, el empezó a venir a la iglesia y las lecciones de las misioneras. Su padre no tuvo problema y dijo que es su vida pero su madre ni quiera que el continué con las lecciones. Sin embargo, el continuo. Finalmente su madre vio muchos cambios positivos en la vida de su hijo y ella empezó a apoyar sus deseos. El estaba muy feliz de que toda su familia vino a testificar este cuento evento muy especial la noche del domingo.
