about the blog and the first mission blog book

My daughters and I began blogging in 2006. We found that it was a good way for our family to keep involved in one another’s lives. A year later, we discovered that we could convert our blogs into journal books, and we have been doing so ever since. In May 2011, as we were preparing for our mission, I sat with one of my girls late into the night designing a mission blog. At the time, I imagined that it would be nothing more than a journal annotation of our experiences in the mission. However, it has come to mean much more to me.
I am grateful for the opportunity it gives me to communicate the status of our missionaries when there is a catastrophe in the city. I love being able to instantly share our joy, for example, when we recently received news that some of our visas had arrived. It has also been an opportunity to share useful information like how to send packages that will arrive safely…not to mention the other more obvious advantages.
I never imagined that a year and 250 posts later that it would have tallied up more than 72,000 pages views, that is for sure! I appreciate the messages of love and support that I receive via missionaries from parents. I am really happy that it is a useful tool.
Several parents that have come to Argentina have seen our family blog books and asked if I was going to do books for the mission as well. When the answer was yes, they asked if I could make them aware when it was available. I am NOT promoting purchasing a blog book. There is nothing in them that cannot be accessed at any time on the web. The pages are 11 x 13 inches and include the exception that it is no longer in a linear format. Nevertheless, in compliance with the promise, here is the link for the book with our first six months in the mission in case anyone happens to be interested. I saw for the first time, that they also make it available as an ebook, which I just downloaded. It works really well, and I think that it is pretty cool.

Mis hijas y yo empezamos un blog en 2006. Encontramos que fue una manera buena para nuestra familia de quedarnos adentro de las vidas una de la otra.

Después de un ano descubrimos que podemos convertir nuestros blogs en un libro diario y hacemos eso desde aquel momento. En Mayo 2011, mientras nos preparábamos para nuestra misión, me senté con una de mis hijas hasta tarde en la noche diseñando el blog de la misión. En esta época no imagine nada mas de un diario de nuestras experiencias en la misión. Sin embargo, ahora significa mucho mas para mi.

Estoy agradecida por la oportunidad que me da para comunicar el estado de nuestros misioneros cuando hay un desastre en la ciudad. Me encanto la oportunidad compartir nuestro gozo, por ejemplo, recién, cuando recibimos noticias de que algunas visas habían llegado. También ha sido una oportunidad de compartir información útil. Por ejemplo, como mandar paquetes que van a llegar sin problemas...no voy a mencionar otros ejemplos mas obvio.

Nunca imagine que después de un ano y 250 posts que vamos a tener mas de de 72,000 visitas de paginas, eso es seguro. Estoy agradecida por los mensajes de amor y apoyo que recibo por medio de mis misioneros de sus padres. Estoy feliz que es una herramienta útil.

Algunos padres que han venido a Argentina han visto nuestros libros de blogs y me preguntaron si voy a hacerlos para la misión también. Cuando la respuesta fue si, ellos me pidieron que les diga cuando los libros están disponibles.

No estoy promoviendo una compra de un libro blog en ninguna manera. No hay nada en ellos menos que las cosas que Uds. pueden ver siempre por internet. Las paginas están 28 x 33 cm
e incluso la excepción que no están lineal.

Yo vi por primera vez que ellos también tienen un ebook, que justo baje. Funciona muy bien y pienso que es buenísimo.
