The black population resulting from the slave trade during the centuries of Spanish domination had a major role in Argentine history and had a deep impact on national culture. With time, the slaves disappeared, but their footprint is found within the culture of the city, including the tango and the murga.
La población negra del comercio de esclavos durante los anos de los españoles tuvo un lugar muy importante en la historia de Argentina y su cultura. Con el tiempo los esclavos desaparecieron pero podemos sentir su influencia a dentro de cosas artesanales incluso los bailes, el tango y la murga.
Murga is a form of musical theater. Not surprisingly, the Argentinian style of Murga puts more focus on dancing as opposed to vocals. Murga groups have extravagant and colorful costumes, and different neighborhoods are distinguished by their costumes, which include a frock coat, gloves, top hat, and stick. In addition, each group has a distinct name that is sometimes embroidered on their shiny costumes. Some of the participants handstand, jump and dance to carefully choreographed routines in time to the beat of the big banging drums and cymbals. Obviously, the other members of the group are making those big loud noises. 
La murga es como un teatro musical. No es una sorpresa que las murgas de Argentina se enfocan en bailar. Los grupos tienen disfraces extravagantes con colores fuertes. Cada barrio tiene sus propios disfraces incluso una levita, guantes, sombrero de copa y bastón. También, cada grupo tiene su propio nombre y algunas veces este nombre esta bordado en su ropa brillante.
Algunas de ellos hacen paradas, saltos y bailes a rutinas especiales con mucha preparación. Otras están haciendo un fuerte ruido con baterías grandes y cimbeles.
For many years, the Argentine government decided that they were too European to have anything to do with Carnival. However, that has been changing and this year, for the first time, Carnival is a national two day holiday—today and tomorrow.
Por muchos anos el gobierno decidió que ellos eran como Europeos y ellos no querían hacer nada con el carnaval. Sin embargo, poco a poco esta idea esta cambiando. Este ano por la primera vez van a tener dos días feriados, hoy y mañana.
What that means for our missionaries is that they may or may not be able to write home this week. The Argentines take their holidays seriously and almost all of the kiosks, including the cybers will be closed.  
Para los misioneros tal vez significa que ellos no pueden escribir sus cartas a sus casas esta semana. A los Argentinos les gustan sus vacaciones y casi todos los kioscos van a estar cerrados.
