Presidente has a little joke that the missionaries wear…

I am not sure if all mission presidents experience this phenomena…but when it is time to go,

 

 

 

all kinds of abrazos

and goodbyes

and last minute errands that take f o r e v e r  to accomplish

are initiated.

Generally speaking, the Argentine people are very big on hellos and goodbyes and even if you only have to speak to someone for a few minutes, it is not unreasonable to expect all the kisses and hugs hello and then all the kisses and hugs goodbye, both of which take more time to accomplish than your actual errand.
So…it could just be an Argentine culture thing, or it could be a missionary thing, or it could be one of those weird cultural combinations of the two.
However, the office elders are determined to overcome the tradition.

There is a game that they play at night. It is called

Super Salida,

which I think you would translate to Speedy Exit, in English. Basically, it goes like this:

 

While they are still in the office, they hit the button to close the electronic security gate, and then they all have to make a run for it to get through the gate before it finishes closing. It is not a great distance, probably less than 20 yards,

but it would be difficult wearing concrete shoes.

El Presidente tiene un chiste pequeño que los misioneros llevan zapatos de cemento. No estoy segura si todos los presidentes de las misiones tienen este desafio, pero cuando es el momento de salir, ya es también el momento para abrazos y saludos finales y tareas finales que duran para siempre.

Hablando generalmente los Argentinos son una gente que les gusta holas y chaus y si necesita hablar con alguien algunos momentos, nada mas, todavía necesita besar y abrazar para decir hola y después lo mismo para decir adiós que untos duran mas tiempo que la charla en si.

Entonces, tal vez es una cosa de Argentina o tal vez una cosa de los misioneros o tal vez una mezcla rara de los dos.

Sin embargo, los elderes de la oficina están tratando de sobrevivir esta tradición. Hay un juego que ellos juegan en la noche. Se llama Súper Salida, lo cual es como Speedy Exit en ingles. Básicamente va así...Mientras ellos están en la oficina ellos ponen el botón para cerrar la puerta electrónica de seguridad y después ellos necesitan correr para estar afuera de la puerta antes de que la puerta se cierre. No es una distancia grande, mas o menos 20m pero seria difícil llevando zapatos de cemento.
