This morning, we had a unique start to our Stake Conference. The Stake President invited the members to stand and sing the national anthem.
It seemed as if everyone in the congregation was wearing the traditional escarapela in a show of national pride. For me it was quite special to hear the saints sing the song of their country.
Hear, mortals, the sacred cry:
"Freedom! Freedom! Freedom!"
Hear the noise of broken chains,
see the noble Equality enthroned.
On the surface of this land now rises
A Nation glorious and new,
Her head is crowned with laurels,
And a Lion lies at her feet.
On the way home, we saw billboards advertising the traditional soup for sale and neighbors gathering around big pots with large bowls to enjoy a warm meal on this sunny, but chilly day.
You can read more about this national day on a previous post here. http://buenosaireswest.blogspot.com.ar/search?q=25+de+mayo
