we will hide away our swords

Some of the zones in the mission have a reputation for baptizing more than other zones. It is interesting because we have seen all of the areas in the mission explode at one time or another with baptisms.

However, as one zone in particular was struggling with it’s “non-baptizing” reputation, the leaders came up with an inspirational lesson from Alma 24. The missionaries thought of the challenges that were keeping them from being the missionary that they knew that they could be. The leaders had made a cardboard sword for each of them and the missionaries wrote their challenges on their sword. Then they each came forward and buried their sword “…as a testimony that we [will] never use them…and they did bury them up deep in the earth.”

Reading Alma 24 you will see other analogies that they used to apply to missionary work. And now,

some wonderful things are happening in that zone!
