We have some favorite kids that we run into all over the mission. They love the missionaries and sharing the gospel with their friends. Cristian is one of them. He lives too far from the chapel to attend early morning seminary, but he wakes up early every Saturday morning and goes to the church for a two hour lesson so that he can complete the course of study. He is 14 and preparing now to serve a mission.
One of my favorite questions for recently arrived missionaries is what their first impressions are about life in Argentina. They usually respond with a laugh and a smile. It’s different…waaay different, they say.
The church has made some great missionary training videos called The District videos. We use them all the time and feel they are a very valuable resource. Nevertheless, our mission does not appear in the slightest like the missions featured in the video. For one thing, very few of the members have cars, let alone the missionaries. After just a few weeks, the missionaries feel as if they have already walked a thousand miles.
Nevertheless, they have the biggest smiles and say that they love it. They go forward with faith, sometimes not completely understanding what is being said and sometimes not completely understanding what is going on, but their valiant testimonies inspire them in their efforts.
