We had the happy news of receiving a visa waiter from Colombia this week! One of the office elders switched out with him so that he could attend zone conference.
At the zone conferences all the new missionaries bear their testimonies. Sister Fernley was the only non-Latin newbie in this group. I know exactly how she felt bearing her testimony to all of us today…and, good for her. She did it!
The missionaries come prepared to zone conference with a 2-3 minute talk on a certain subject. The Latinos are asked to prepare their talk in English and vice-versa. No one knows which missionary will be called upon to give their talk. This time around, in all of the conferences, Latin missionaries were chosen. It was beautiful to see the effort they are making to learn English in a Spanish environment. We all enthusiastically applauded their efforts.
Tuvimos las buenas noticias de recibir un elder que ha estado esperando su visa de Colombia esta semana. Uno de los elderes de la oficina cambio con el, entonces el tuvo la oportunidad de asistir a la conferencia de la zona.
En la conferencia todos los nuevos comparten sus testimonios. La Hermana Fernley era la única que no es de America Latino. Yo se exactamente como ella se sentido compartiendo su testimonio hoy...y...bien por ella...lo hiza.
Los misioneros vienen a la conferencia de la zona con un discurso de 2 o 3 minutos ya preparado acerca de un tema especifico. Los Latinos necesitan preparar su discurso en ingles y vice versa. Nadie sabe cual misionero va a dar su discurso. Este tiempo en cada zona los Latinos fueron elegidos. Fue muy lindo ver sus esfuerzos para aprender ingles en una ambiente de castellano. Con entusiasmo aplaudimos sus esfuerzos.
