We attended the Temple Re-dedication this morning. It exceeded every expectation. Presidente wrote about his impressions and shared it with the missionaries in the weekly letter, the Sol, this morning. I share his words here with you.

Dear Missionaries,
It was a blessing to sit in the celestial room yesterday with my family during the first session of the re-dedication of the Buenos Aires Argentina Temple. I hope many of you attended the same session so you can relate to some of the things I would like to mention. I would like to share with you some of the things I learned, felt and observed during the session. I have attended many wonderful meetings in my church life, this re-dedication session touched my heart and moved my soul.
We had the good fortune to be seated directly behind the wives of the three Apostles. This vantage point made it possible for us to watch the faces of the Brethren as they would look at their wives with loving glances and expressions of confidence and assurance. One of my first impressions was that of the choir. When they started to sing it seemed as though others were singing with them as their voices radiated and filled our hearts with joy and praising glory of the Master. However, looking around the room confirmed that they were the only 20 people singing in the room and I felt the beauty and majesty of their voices could only be possible if they were being assisted by angels from on high. The temple president’s wife gave a short but powerful talk that brought tears to my eyes as she mentioned the caring way in which the missionaries received the visitors during the open house. The temple president spoke with such love for all those who would come to the temple to form families and receive blessings from on high. President Arnold was powerful as he spoke about his father’s temple shoes he keeps on his desk to remind him of those things most important in this life and the next. All the speakers mentioned families directly or indirectly in their remarks…reminding us of the purpose of this life and the need to qualify ourselves first and then our loved ones to receive of the glory of our Father in his Kingdom.
Elder Ballard recounted the story of his grandfather Melvin J. Ballard and the beginning of the preaching of the gospel in South America and Argentina. We tell this same story to our new missionaries and our departing missionaries in the Parque 3 de Febrero so that we will remember we are and have been a part of the group of messengers spoken about in the dedicatory prayer on that Christmas day in 1925 when he prayed: “Put thy Spirit into their hearts, that they may receive us as true messengers of God, for their salvation. Help us to labor for them with the same spirit in us which He had – who loved men so that He died for them – that we may effectually “call, persuade, and invite” men to come unto Christ.” For a moment during Elder Ballard’s talk I was once again a young missionary walking the streets of Lima Perú when he spoke of the “miracle in Lima”…when 7 stakes were created in one weekend. Clearly the oak tree has grown stronger.
President Eyring also spoke of the pure love we need to have in our hearts for others. Isn’t this true for us as missionaries now more ever…that we love those we teach so much that our message will be received through our very desire to help them obtain what we are so privileged to have? Presidents Eyrings testimony of the fact that there are Apostles of the Lord on the earth today was unlike I had ever heard or felt. It was moving and powerful! I loved how he referred to the temple as a house of hope, a place we can return to often and find the solace and help we need in times of struggle. I hope and pray that each of you will find it in your heart to never forget what you learned and how you felt this past weekend. The closing hymn sung with the choir was spiritual in nature and brought many tears to those in the celestial room. The gospel is true and this life is our time to prepare to meet and live once again with our Father. May we come to know His Son, such that we take full advantage of his gift of Eternal Life he has made possible for us and others through His Atoning sacrifice.

Fue una bendición sentarme ayer en el salón celestial con mi familia durante la primera sesión de la re dedi-cación del Templo de Buenos Aires Argentina. Espero que muchos de ustedes hayan asistido a la misma sesión para que puedan relacionarse con algunas de las cosas que me gustaría mencionar. Me gustaría com-partir con ustedes algunas de las cosas que aprendí, sentí y observé durante la sesión. He asistido a muchas reuniones hermosas en mi vida en la iglesia, esta sesión de re dedicación tocó mi corazón y movió mi alma.
Tuvimos la suerte de sentarnos justo atrás de las esposas de los tres Apóstoles. Este punto de vista hizo po-sible para nosotros a ver los rostros de las Autoridades que miraban a sus esposas con amorosas miradas y expresiones de confianza y seguridad. Una de mis primeras impresiones fue la del coro. Cuando empezaron a cantar, parecía como si otros estuvieran cantando con ellos, al ver como su voz irradiaba y llenaba nues-tros corazones de alegría y alabando la gloria del Maestro. Sin embargo, mirando alrededor de la sala con-firmé que eran las únicas 20 personas que cantan en la habitación y sentí que la belleza y la majestad de su voz sólo podía ser posible si estaban siendo asistidos por ángeles desde lo alto. La esposa del presidente del templo dio una charla corta pero poderosa (menos palabras, más poder) que hizo brotar lágrimas de mis ojos cuando mencionó la forma cuidadosa en que los misioneros recibieron a los visitantes durante la jorna-da de puertas abiertas. El presidente del templo habló con mucho amor para todos los que vendrían al tem-plo para formar familias y recibir las bendiciones de lo alto. El presidente Arnold fue poderoso a medida que hablaba sobre los zapatos del templo de su padre que guarda sobre su escritorio para recordarle las cosas más importantes en esta vida y la siguiente. Todos los oradores se refirieron a las familias, directa o indirec-tamente, en sus comentarios... lo que nos recuerda el propósito de esta vida y la necesidad de calificar noso-tros mismos primero y luego ayudar a nuestros seres queridos para recibir la gloria de nuestro Padre en su Reino.
Elder Ballard relató la historia de su abuelo Melvin J. Ballard y el comienzo de la predicación del evangelio en América del Sur y Argentina. Contamos esta misma historia a los nuevos misioneros y nuestros misioneros que se van en el Parque 3 de Febrero para que nos recuerde que somos y hemos sido parte del grupo de mensajeros del que se habla en la oración dedicatoria en ese día de Navidad en 1925, cuando él oró: “Derrama Tu espíritu en sus corazones, para que ellos puedan recibirnos como verdaderos mensajeros de Dios para salvación. Ayúdanos a obrar con el mismo espíritu en nosotros, el cual El tuvo – Quién amó al hombre de tal modo que murió por él – que podamos eficazmente “llamar, persuadir, e invitar” al hombre a venir a Cristo”. Por un momento, durante el discurso del Elder Ballard, fui otra vez un joven misionero cami-nando por las calles de Lima Perú, mientras él hablaba del "milagro en Lima"... cuando 7 estacas fueron crea-das en un fin de semana. Es evidente que el roble se ha fortalecido.
El presidente Eyring habló también del amor puro que necesitamos tener en nuestro corazón para los de-más. ¿No es esto cierto para nosotros como misioneros ahora más que nunca... que amamos tanto a los que enseñamos que nuestro mensaje es recibido a través de nuestro propio deseo de ayudarles a obtener lo que somos tan privilegiados de tener? El testimonio del presidente Eyring del hecho de que hay apóstoles del Señor en la tierra hoy en día fue diferente a cualquier otro que había escuchado o sentido. ¡Fue conmovedor y poderoso! Me encantó cómo él se refirió al templo como una casa de esperanza, un lugar en el que pode-mos volver a menudo y encontrar el consuelo y la ayuda que necesitamos en tiempos de lucha. Espero y oro para que cada uno de ustedes lo encuentren en sus corazones para que nunca se olviden lo que han apren-dido y cómo se sintieron este fin de semana pasado. El himno final, cantado por el coro fue espiritual por naturaleza y trajo muchas lágrimas a aquellos en el salón celestial. El Evangelio es verdadero y esta vida es nuestro tiempo para prepararse para encontrarnos y vivir nuevamente con nuestro Padre. Que podamos llegar a conocer a su Hijo, de modo que tomemos el máximo provecho de su don de la vida eterna que ha hecho posible para nosotros y los demás a través de Su sacrificio expiatorio.
